THE JEWEL IN LIJA
"Project architect Claude Borg has dedicated the past three years to restoring it to its former beauty, laying great emphasis on how it looked in the past.
Great thought and care was taken in the laying of the water and electricity supply because the walls and floors of the villa, which is scheduled as Grade 1, could not be touched. In fact, these were passed beneath the floor paving or re-laid in the old trenches cut in the wall. In one particular corridor, Mr Borg had all the tiles removed, passed the services and carefully re-laid the tiles."

"The Prix d’Honneur for restoration and conservation was awarded to the Victoria Gate
Project and to Architect Claude Borg, for his most impressive work in the preservation of this important 19th Century gateway designed by Emmanuel Luigi Galizia. The restoration, effected in the space of one year, involved not just that of the Gate itself, but also the re-interpretation of the foot-bridge and the widening and re-paving of the street leading to the Gate. Martin Scicluna said it had been felt that this was an excellent example of winning back for the island the beauty of our public urban areas with the restoration of what was once the main gate-way into Valletta."

PATIENTS IN THE FINAL STAGES OF THEIR LIFE WILL BE HELPED WITH EVERYTHING THEY NEED
"The architect, Claude Borg, explained how the building will be split into two – on one side there will be an area for patients who require care 24/7 and the other side will be for patients who need daycare services.
“Here we had very large wards and for this project we needed a number of rooms for in-patients with their own room. We have already begun the process of building the rooms in these spaces, and they have already been roofed over, now we are carrying out the necessary excavation to prepare for the pipework. The other side will be the daycare where the civil works have been completed and then there is another section which is the equipment area.”

MANIKATA CHAPEL TO BE RESTORED AFTER 45 YEARS OF NEGLECT
"Architect Claude Borg, who is overseeing the restoration, said it was likely there was no architect who designed or oversaw the original work, saying the structural problems in the building were probably related to this. The chapel was closed in 1975 by which time the population of Manikata had increased and would hear Mass in the larger church built by architect Richard England around 30 metres away."

MALTA'S SECRET TUNNELS: INSIDE THE NEWLY DISCOVERED UNDERWORLD OF VALLETTA
"Claude Borg was the architect in charge of the car park project, which was scrapped after this discovery. Borg had removed a jumble of heavy limestone blocks in the basement of an Italian restaurant on Archbishop Street and found a passageway to Valletta’s first freshwater fountain. There are rumours, he said, that the Knights built escape tunnels from the palace. “I can also tell you that this tunnel connects to the palace. If there was a secret escape route, this was it.”"
"Borg was the first to step foot into the cistern since the second world war. Repaving works on Republic Street had broken through Great Siege Square, and he was called in to assess the damage. "
